The young artiste, Sruthi Dhulipala, who is originally from Hyderabad, has Carnatic music in her blood. Based in the US, she has embraced her Carnatic heritage warmly while seamlessly blending it in all that she composes and sings

Singer-songwriter Sruthi Dhulipala is set to release three independent singles, the first among which is Madhuram.

Singing has always been a part of this youngster's life. Born in a musical family, and as the daughter of Dr D.S.R Murthy, she got the opportunity at an early age to accompany him for concerts and learn by observing stalwarts such as Dr L Subramaniam, Bombay Jayshree and Balamurali Krishna Garu.

“All my songs are pieces of me. Although it sounds cliche, the reason I got into songwriting was to find a way of expression. I am an introvert who likes to keep to herself, and when I sing to someone, it’s like I’m a whole new person – I get excited, energetic, and I enjoy that side of me as well. So, this funnelled into my passion for songwriting and I plan to continue to write songs that I personally connect to!,” says Sruthi.

Sruthi Dhulipala’s previous release Captive dealt with overcoming emotions of fear that can enslave our thoughts. Her new single Tedhi Zindagi is comparatively more playful as it finds the singer and featured guest Shruthi Iyer accepting new experiences that life throws at our doorstep.As touched upon in the lyrics, this new experience can be moving to a new home or embarking on a new journey.

Even as I begin to write this, “Tedhi Zindagi,” the first original song of indie artists Sruthi Dhulipala and Shruti Iyer is crossing 100k viewers on YouTube. In person, they are as ebullient as they are in their video, with their enthusiastic laughs, their spirited discussion about their journey, and their love for music. Their energy is infectious.

Captive, the new single by Sruthi Dhulipala is a light pop melody, with a few layers of Indian classical sounds. The lyrics are charming, innocent, and would be highly relatable to some. Hence, apart from Dhulipala’s breezy vocals, it’s the lyrical aspect that stands out in the track.
